How to choose an isolator product

2023/07/14 View: 323

In addition to determining the function of the isolator and adapting to the front-end and back-end interfaces, there are many parameters such as accuracy, output ripple, temperature drift, power consumption, and response time that need to be carefully selected by the user.
precision
The accuracy of the isolator is a very important parameter, and the accuracy is directly related to whether the isolator can be used normally. The accuracy of the isolator reflects the level of design and manufacture of the isolator. Users should choose products with high precision when choosing.

Output ripple
Another parameter that affects the accuracy of the isolator is output ripple. The output ripple is generated because the isolator uses the DC/DC circuit to isolate the working power supply of the isolator to supply power to the internal circuit of the isolator, and the input signal should also be adjusted into an AC signal using the DC/DC circuit and then isolated by the isolated part of the circuit for signal isolation, and the isolated signal is demodulated and then converted into DC signal output. There are also pulsed signals in CPU-centered isolators. This high-frequency AC component present inside the isolator is responsible for the output ripple. These high-frequency AC components generally have hundreds of KHZ, more harmonics, and it is difficult to completely remove the pollution of the signal. If the output ripple is high, the error of the analog input template of the control system will be large in the acquisition of the signal, especially for the analog input mask of the high-speed input. Therefore, when selecting an isolator, it should be required that the peak-to-peak value of the output ripple be as small as possible. Shunlian Electronics' various series of isolators adopt high-efficiency filter circuits to better suppress output ripple. Users should choose products with small ripple when choosing.

Temperature drift
Temperature drift is due to the heat generated during isolator operation, which causes the performance of the electronic components used in the isolator to deteriorate, resulting in a change in the output value of the isolator. When selecting an isolator, the value of the temperature drift should be as small as possible. In order to prevent temperature drift, Paloken isolator products are designed with low power consumption and micropower consumption, so that the isolator itself generates little or no heat when working, so as to prevent the performance index of the components used due to heat generation during product operation from deteriorating and prevent temperature drift. Users should choose products with low temperature drift when choosing.

Response time
Response time is the time between the change in the input quantity of the product and the correct reflection of the change in the output of the product. The shorter the response time, the more realistically and correctly it can reflect the change in input quantity, and effectively monitor and control the production process. When selecting an isolator, the shorter the response time requirement, the better. Users should choose products with small response times.
