In all kinds of electronic products, the trend of setting overcurrent protection and overvoltage protection components is increasing, and the reason why this is so can be summarized mainly in the following aspects:

(2) In order to reduce power consumption, reduce heat generation, and extend service life, the working voltage of semiconductor components and ICs is getting lower and lower, according to SIA (American Semiconductor Industry Association) statistics, the working voltage is about 1.5V, and will drop to below 1.2V by 2004, so its ability to resist overcurrent / overvoltage needs to adapt to new protection requirements.


(3) There are more and more mobile electronic products, such as handheld machines, PDAs, notebook computers, camcorders, digital cameras, optical disc players, etc., these electronic products need battery components as a battery, and must be equipped with protective components in battery components and battery chargers.



(4) In modern luxury cars, more and more electronic devices are equipped, and the working conditions are worse than ordinary electronic products, such as the driving conditions and environment of the car changing rapidly, and the car will produce a large instantaneous peak voltage when starting. Therefore, in the power adapter for these electronic devices, it is generally necessary to install both overcurrent and overvoltage protection components.


(5) Many electrical/electronic products need to prevent lightning strikes and the interconnection of power lines and telephone lines to ensure normal communication and personal safety of users. Therefore, with the development of power/electronic products, the demand for overcurrent/overvoltage protection components is on the rise.


(6) According to statistics, 75% of the failures in electronic products are caused by overcurrent/overvoltage. IBM has analyzed the causes of computer power failures, 88.5% of which are due to overcurrent/overvoltage. With people's demand for the quality of electronic products, manufacturers must use a large number of circuit protection components in order to improve market competitiveness.
