The Junction Field Effect Transistor (JFET) can be used as an electronic control switch, amplifier, or voltage-controlled resistor. Applying an appropriate polarity potential difference between the gate and source terminals increases the resistance to current flow, resulting in a reduced current flow in the channel between the source and drain terminals. As charge flows through the semiconductor channel between the source and drain terminals, JFET does not require bias current.
