Isolation transformers belong to safe power supplies, generally used for machine repair and maintenance, and play the role of protection, lightning protection and filtering.
The principle of isolation transformer is the same as that of ordinary transformer. All use the principle of electromagnetic induction. Isolation transformers are generally, but not all, 1:1 transformers. Although the secondary is not connected to the earth, there is still a potential difference and a phase difference of 180 degrees between any secondary line and the earth, which is dangerous.
The power supply that controls transformers and tube devices is also an isolation transformer. Power supplies such as tube amplifiers, tube radios and oscilloscopes, and lathe control transformers are isolation transformers. For example, in order to safely repair color TVs, 1:1 isolation transformers are commonly used. It is also used in air conditioners.
First of all, usually the AC power supply voltage we use is connected to the earth by one wire, and there is a potential difference of 220V between the other wire and the earth. Human contact can cause electric shock. The secondary of the isolation transformer is not connected to the earth, and there is no potential difference between any two of its wires and the earth. People will not be electrocuted when they touch any line, which is safer.
Secondly, the output end of the isolation transformer is completely "open" isolated from the input end, which effectively plays a good filtering role on the input end of the transformer (the power supply voltage supplied by the grid), thereby providing a pure power supply voltage to the electrical equipment.
Another use is anti-interference. It can be widely used in subways, high-rise buildings, airports, stations, docks, industrial and mining enterprises and tunnels for power transmission and distribution.
Isolation transformer refers to the input winding and output winding in the electrical isolation of the transformer, in order to avoid accidental simultaneous contact with the live body (or metal parts that may be charged due to insulation damage) and the danger caused by the earth, its principle is the same as the ordinary dry-type transformer, but also the use of electromagnetic induction principle, mainly isolate the primary power circuit, the secondary circuit to the ground floating, to ensure the safety of electricity.
